PANJIM: At least two cases of murder were reported every month and 45 persons were arrested from April 2013 to February 14, 2014, figures presented before the Goa Legislative Assembly reveal.
Home Minister Manohar Parrikar in a written reply informed Porvorim Rohan Khaunte that 31 homicide cases were registered and 32 persons were killed, of whom three victims remain unidentified.
According to the reply, two murder cases were reported during this period, Two persons were arrested for the first murder of Lavu Aapa Parsekar (45) and three arrests were made in the murder of Usman Mohammed Ikram (14).
Among the total number of cases, 18 cases are still being investigated, while the rest have been chargesheeted including the murder of Nigerian Obado Uzoma Simeon, whose murder had sparked a riot-like situation on NH-17, following violent protests by Nigerians. Ten persons were arrested in connection with the murder.
