Most Pernem village panchayats pass resolutions for Mopa airport TNN | Aug 13, 2013, 03.35 AM IST MAPUSA: Most panchayats in Pernemtaluka have unanimously passed resolutions supporting the proposed Mopa airport. Fifteen panchayats out of a total of 20 have also passed resolutions requesting the government to initiate the procedure of Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Mopa airport. Locals in the taluka, under the banner of the newly-formed NGO, People for Mopa Airport (PMA), have stepped up their movement in support of the Mopa airport project. "We appealed to the people and received overwhelming response. Seeing the response, we are confident the remaining all five gram panchayats will also pass the resolutions requesting the government to initiate the procedure of RFQ," said PMA convenor Devendra Prabhudesai. "At the village level meetings we are clearing doubts in the minds of the people which have been created by a few politicians from South Goa for their political gains. We are explaining the advantages of the Mopa airport," he said.
