Wants govt offices shifted to Patto, Porvorim
TEAM HERALD
PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji meeting Wednesday gave its NOC to commercial constructions after two years even as it admitted that parking by-laws had to be changed to keep pace with development.
The Council decided to clear the previous 13 proposals even before the bylaws are to be changed; but no other proposals would be cleared until the bylaws are changed.
The meeting also resolved that all government offices should be shifted out of the city either to Patto or Porvorim in a bid to decongest the city.
Panjim is facing a major problem with parking and traffic congestion during peak hours.
Earlier the Opposition corporators had pointed out to ‘sponsored’ trucks, allegedly by some builders that the CCP had received recently. Interestingly, former mayor Yatin Parekh who was instrumental in the commercial building ban was absent for the meeting.
