PANJIM:
In a clear deviation from Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s
positioning of the drug scene in Goa as an isolated hiccup restricted to
tourists, St Andre MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh said, “Everyone is aware that
there are organized drug racketeers operating. I can give information to
the police about the illicit trade. Places like the empty malls along
the beach belt,” he told media on Wednesday.
Training
his guns on Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar, Wagh alleged that the
minister has been taking his MLAs for granted and not responding when
they have been claiming that drug trade is rampant.
He
also targeted legislator Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco who headed the
five-member House Committee of Goa Legislative Assembly to probe into
the alleged police-politician drug mafia nexus in 2012. The report
submitted last year had indicted some politicians and some senior police
officers for their links with drug peddlers and shielding the
drug-trade.
Wagh and Lobo had however not signed the final report arguing it was biased and incomplete.
Wagh
further said that the government has not been disclosing the amount it
has been collecting from EDM festivals as Entertainment tax.
