Nagpur tourists assaulted, robbed at knifepoint in Calangute (ToI)

PANAJI: Two tourists were assaulted and robbed by a gang of unidentified men at Calangute late on Sunday night.
In his complaint, Piyush Jain from Nagpur claimed that two men on a motorbike followed him and his friend as they were proceeding from Calangute towards Arpora on a hired two-wheeler. The two perpetrators struck up a conversation with the complainants, and lured them into a deserted street on the pretext of showing them a "good nightclub" to party at. Two more men were already present at the isolated site, and the four allegedly slapped and punched the tourists, and also attacked them with their belts. At knifepoint, the four robbed them of cash of 5,500, two gold chains a gold bracelet and a gold ring all worth an estimated 4.65 lakh.
Calangute police have booked a case under Sections 394 and 34 of the IPC.
