70% say Statehood was a mistake

August 15, 2012 FREDDY FERNANDES teamherald@herald-goa.com PANJIM: An overwhelming 70 per cent Goans have said that fighting for Statehood in 1987 was a wrong decision on the part of the political class, according to a Special 65th Independence Anniversary Survey conducted by Herald in the run up to August 15, 2012. Twenty per cent said it was a correct decision, while 10 per cent were uncertain on the issue of Goa’s political status within the Indian Union according to the Survey conducted across seven talukas of Goa.
