OPIONION BLOCKADE
A letter to Editor that remains unpublished by the Herald, Goa.
Sir,
The plight of goans living in villages due to the National Highway alignment is aptly portrayed in IDHAR-UDDHAR's cartoon (Herald 27/10/10). This will actually be the case of goans in the near future when a brother or sister will have to travel three kilometers or more to access a fly-over or sub-way just to visit another brother or sister who lives exactly opposite in the same village but across the NH. For ministers the construction of a NH through the villages of Goa may offer an attractive opportunity for contracts and kick-backs. For the rich and powerful it may be about zooming in their vehicles (which are ever growing in size) with absolute ease and no interruption. But for the ordinary goan people, the passing of a NH through their villages will cause a social holocaust.
