How seriously should Goans consider the utterances of the Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Mukthar Abbas Naqvi when he claimed that Hindutva will not be the BJP plank for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections? Hope it is not the BJP's double face, one for Goa and North-East States where minorities can influence the poll results and quite another in North Indian States with predominantly Hindu domination.
We citizens were told in 2014 that the label of 'communal' which was put on the BJP was a Congress Party construct to scare minorities from voting for the party. Then how does the BJP explain the systematic spate of lynchings, rapes and verbal attacks against minorities and the cover-up by the State machinery across the country since 2014 with some excuse of beef ban, conversions, foreign conspiracy, child lifting and so on?
The recent reaction of Mukthar Abbas Naqvi to the letter from the Archbishop of Delhi was no different from that of the hate spewing Hindutva organisations.
Do the verbal statements of BJP politicians like Naqvi have any legal validity so that it can be challenged in a court of law if not honoured?
