Pumps used to keep water level in check at Bicholim TNN | Jul 8, 2013, 01.51 AM IST BICHOLIM: Incessant rains during the last few days triggered a rise in the water level of the Bicholim and Valvanti rivers. As a result, the water resources department continued pumping out the water near the entrance of Sankhali market till Sunday morning. The WRD authorities operated all four lift irrigation pumps installed near the entrance of Sankhali market along the river as a precautionary measure. The pumping was being done on Saturday to keep the water level on the bank of the town within safe limits "Each pump can lift about 2,200 litres of water per second," WRD executive engineer Pramod Badami said. The rivulets at Gauthan, Vithlapur, Karapur Bandirwada and surrounding areas at Sankahli were overflowing, but there was no danger or loss of property. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/Pumps-used-to-keep-water-level-in-check-at-Bicholim/articleshow/20962509.cms?
