Wednesday was hottest night in recent years: Met department Paul Fernandes, TNN | May 3, 2013, 01.25 PM IST PANAJI: The surge of the mercury to 28.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday night turned it into the hottest summer night during the last three years. "The minimum temperature had not gone up so much during the last three years," K V Singh, director, meteorological centre, Altinho said. The met centre had earlier recorded 27.7 degrees C on May 10, 2011 and noted an identical reading on May 30, 2012. The centre keeps records of the highest maximum during the day and lowest minimum temperatures during the night. "But since the past three years, we have been keeping records of the minimum temperature on the higher side and maximum temperature on the lower side, as it helps compare the variations," Singh said. The highest surge of mercury recorded in Goa by met centre in recent decades was 39.8 degrees C on April 7, 1989.
