Mother, 2 kids found dead in Barcem well December 22, 2012 TEAM HERALD teamherald@herald-goa.com MARGAO: Gloom descended in the sleepy village of Barcem on Friday after a 26-year-old woman and her two minor daughters ~ aged five and two years ~ were found dead in a village well. They are believed to have committed suicide as post mortem examination has revealed that the trio died due to drowning. Cuncolim police said that there were no injury marks on the bodies of Divya Velip (26) and her two daughters Deepsha (5) and Bindiya (2). The police have interrogated husband Dinesh in connection with the incident. Cuncolim police station in charge, PI Raju Raut Dessai said the Sub-Divisional Magistrate has commenced investigations into the incident since the death of the woman has occurred within seven years of her marriage. He said the police have registered a case of unnatural death, but hastened to add that investigations are on to ascertain what prompted the woman to end her life along with her two daughters. Information revealed that Dinesh along with wife and the two daughters was staying little away from his family house. Dinesh, who was working at a quarry, was reportedly quarreling with his wife every day allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Police believe that quarreling by her husband could have prompted Divya to end her life along with her two daughters in the well located just 25 meters from the house. Sources said the woman and her two daughters, had gone to the fields on Thursday evening at around 5 pm, but did not report home Thursday night. Tragedy unfolded in the wee hours of Friday when locals heading for work spotted bodies of two minors floating in the well. They are believed to have immediately informed former Panch Ganesh Velip at around 6.45 pm, who in turn intimated the incident to the Cuncolim police. ZP member Kushali Velip said there were constant quarrels between the husband and wife. PI Raju said bodies of the trio were handed over to the relatives after post mortem examination for the last rites.
