Sir,
Your views in people's Court under the caption "Why are you afraid of uttering this four letter word: STOP" made interesting reading.
I think that Goans have STOPPEd caring for their Stare since the 80s. That os how the vandals, fascists and pseudo-nationalists have got the courage to redefine the lifestyle and culture of Goans and rename the streets and monuments.
Goans have STOPPED loving their land and have chosen to sell their properties and flee like cowards to Europe and America. Some others chose to sit abroad and advise their fellow men back home on how they should protect and preserve Goa.
Goans have STOPPED acting but continue to talk and conspire against fellow Goans. The acting has been left to the Editors like and activists who are also then accused and criticised of being blackmailers and bought off.
Goans have STOPPED tackling their problems and are happy the dhobi's list to the Governor, Ministers, MLAs and Sarpanchas on what needs to be done.
Even activist tuned politican Mathany Saldanha has forgotten where to say STOP. He has miserably failed to say STOP the corruption, STOP the hate campaigns, STOP the destruction of private property, STOP the attack on teachers and professors and so on.
For me, Goans have STOPPED thinking and reasoning. They have started believing and adoring Manohar Parrikar, Babush Monseratte, Ravi Naik, Vijay Mallya, Pratapsing Rane, Wilfred D'Souza, Nagesh Karmali, Subash Velingkar and the band-wagons of despots, turncoats, real estate developers, extortionists and black marketers. They have STOPPED thinking as Goans and prefer to think on basis of caste and religion.
But the day is not far when the generation to come will curse and swear at their elders for not STOPPING the outright sale and decadence of Goa. The pots of money stacked up in bank accounts and share markets will be of no value if they cannot live a peaceful existence.
Soter D'Souza
