MARGAO: Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Wednesday opined that contesting the forthcoming zilla panchayat elections on party symbols will bring about the much desired stability and development at the self-governing institutions at the local level.
Parsekar was speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the 'We Care' film festival organized by the Disability Rights Association of Goa at Margao.
Initially, Parsekar tried to downplay the questions asked by mediapersons suggesting that the panchayats' minister would be the right person to reply to the queries.
But, later, he said, "Every six months, there is a rotation of the sarpanch and deputy sarpanch in the village panchayat that affects the development. This will end it."
