PANAJI:
The state government has decided to constitute a committee to advise
the government on how to go ahead on the issue of special status. The
committee would be asked to submit a report to the government within a
month from its existence. After the report is submitted, the state
government will make a representation to the Union government.
Chief minister Manohar Parrikar said the committee will interact with stakeholders, will study the legal implications of special status, will interact with the people and hold seminars.
The committee will comprise thinkers, advocates and supporters of special status for Goa. "Let them also check legally what kind of special status is feasible, discuss alternate options and the problems that could arise. All this will have to be placed before the government. We will then meet Union home minister Rajnath Singh over the issue," Parrikar said.http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/Now-a-panel-to-advise-government-on-special-status-issue/articleshow/44863688.cms?
