Need to popularize exotic locations in Goa: Shripad Naik -ToI

 Panaji: Union minister of state for tourism Shripad Naik has said new destinations in the country including places in Goa have to be popularized among tourists. Indicating that tourists are unaware of many of the exotic locations, he said certain locations have become popular through movies.

Naik was speaking after the inauguration of his new office in Paryatan Bhavan at Patto. He will be available to the public at this office during his Goa visits.

He said that Dudhsagar water falls' popularity soared after it was featured in one of the movies. "Tourists started visiting Dudhsagar after they saw the place in the film," he said.

He further said not just Goa but other parts of the country will also experience a surge in tourist arrivals after the e-visa facility is activated at nine airports. As per his earlier announcement, it should roll out at nine airports including Dabolim airport this month.

The visa-on-arrival facility will be commissioned at Dabolim airport in one-and-a-half month, the minister said
