PANAJI: The number of tourists coming to Goa has increased during the past two years and the state tourism department is targeting 5 million tourists in Goa by 2016.
"This is the goal of Goa government," tourism minister Dilip Parulekar stated while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of 17th national seminar organized by national media foundation, New Delhi at Institute Menezes Braganza hall Panaji on Saturday. He also informed the audience that the number of tourists coming to Goa has increased in the past two years.
"Now that Goa's member of Parliament Shripad Naik, who knows what tourism is, has been given the ministry for tourism in the central government, we can hope for bright days for Indian tourism." said Parulekar.
Also present on the dais were Balyogi Umesh Nathji Maharaj, who praised the work of press and media calling them as powerful as saints and Rajendra Jain, national president of national media foundation, welcomed the gathering. Director of DD news (Doordarshan Goa) G K Pai and Amar Sigh Tomar, former director of public relations of government of Rajasthan, spoke on the occasion.
Several delegates from 20 states of India have participated in this seminar.
