BELGAUM: Defending his controversial and incitive statements against Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, Sri Ram Sene (SRS) Chief Pramod Muthalik on Thursday also stood by his advice of distributing a sword and Gita in every Hindu home.

Muthalik has reiterated his desire to enter Goa soon after the Lok Sabha elections results are declared.

Reacting to his vitriolic speech in a video clip which has gone viral, Mutalik told Herald: “Yes, I did speak against Sardesai about a year ago, as he had opposed the entry of my organization in Goa and had pleaded with Goa government to ban SRS in that state. I certainly have the freedom to spread my organization anywhere in India, especially in Goa.”

“Since I am contesting from Dharwad and am confident of winning against BJP Karnataka President Prahlad Joshi, I am awaiting the results and after that, I will think about it (entering Goa),” he added. He also defended his advice of distributing a sword and Gita in every Hindu home. 

“Certainly under present circumstances, we are definitely thinking of distributing them (sword and Gita) in every Hindu home to protect Hindu religion and culture and as self-defence. I have been talking about it openly in my speeches about it,” he said. It may be recalled that Muthalik had stated in March that he wanted to enter Goa, despite opposition from various quarters in Goa.

“Let this LS elections get over and then I will show him (Parrikar) my strength in Goa,” Muthalik had earlier told Herald in Hubli in March.

“We are not at all afraid of anyone’s ban and SRS will be launched in Goa soon as youngsters and Hindu leaders from different parts of Goa are in contact with u0s, demanding to immediately launch SRS in Goa,” Muthalik had also told Herald in October 2013.

“It’s sad to see majority of Goans falling to western culture which is prevalent there due to various reasons. Bharatiya Sanskriti Rakshana (protecting Indian culture) is the prime intention of launching SRS in Goa in a democratic way,” said Pramod Mutak.  “No one can stop SRS in Goa, which is the part of the Indian Union.”

Muthalik’s venoms speech against Vijai goes viral

MARGAO: The Controversial chief of the Karnataka-based outfit Sri Ram Sene, Pramod Muthalik has courted yet another controversy. While his avowed plan to open a “shaka” of the radical outfit in Goa has not fructified as yet, Muthalik’s purported hate speech delivered a couple of months ago has kicked up a huge row. The video clip, which has now gone viral, shows Muthalik allegedly asking Hindus to keep at least one sword in their homes for their security. He reportedly says in the video that the Ram Sene has decided to distribute one sword and one copy of the Bhagvad Gita to each house.

That’s not all. In the purported video clip, Muthalik is shown spewing venom at Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, even going to the extent of questioning his Hindu lineage, for his statement urging Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar not to allow the Ram Sene into Goa. In the video clip, Muthalik is purportedly seen saying “it appears that his name is Vijai Sardesai. But I am sure that he cannot be a Vijai Sardesai. He must be some Victor, probably Victor Sirajuddin. He cannot be a Vijai, he cannot be a Hindu. His ancestry will have to be researched. His roots cannot be Hindu; there must have been some ‘mixing’ in his ‘blood’”.

He continued saying whether Goa is Vijai’s “father’s property”, while expressing his determination to set up the Sri Ram Sene unit in Goa to awaken the Hindu Samaj and prepare Goa to become part of the Hindu Rashtra. 

Sources said the speech, which was apparently made a couple of months ago, was in circulation in the State in the run up to the Lok Sabha poll before going viral after the election.

Commenting on Muthalik’s hate speech, Vijai Sardesai said there is a clear cut collusion between the Parrikar government and this radical groups. “This hate speech was made months ago, but has been released at a strategic time when the communal forces were trying to consolidate through hate speeches. It is sad that all this is happening under the nose of the government. This has come at a time when I have been opposing the government on various issues and have rallied behind the secular forces”.

Replying to a question, Vijai said  Parrikar owes an explanation to the people on Muthalik’s hate speech and whether he intends to initiate action against him. “Let us wait and see whether the chief minister will do something for a member of a Legislative Assembly after come under attack from the Ram Sene Chief,” Vijai added.

“Muthalik making derogatory remarks against me and questioning my Hindu lineage has suddenly gone viral on the net. All these are ominous signs and Goans should be alert and united against such terror tactics,” he asserted.

If aggrieved Vijai should lodge complaint: CM

MARGAO:  With Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik’s purported attack on MLA Vijai Sardesai threatening to cause embarrassment for his government, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has refused to be drawn into the controversy.

He, however, hastened to add that if at all there’s a verbal attack from Muthalik on the Fatorda MLA, the best course for the Independent legislator is to lodge a complaint with the police to initiate action. 

“I am ready to put behind bar anyone who has lodged a violent attack against person. But, as far as verbal attack is concerned, the police will start the investigations if the Fatorda MLA lodges a police complaint,” Parrikar told Herald on the sidelines of the Alcoholics Anonymous silver jubilee function at the Ravindra Bhavan on Thursday.

The chief minister initially refused to be drawn into the row after his attention was drawn to the video clip purportedly showing the Sri Ram Sene chief spewing venom on the Fatorda MLA for requesting the Chief Minister to stop the Sene from opening a unit in Goa. 

Incidentally, the Fatorda MLA told the media on Thursday that the Chief Minister should come clean and clear on the Muthalik episode.
