PANJIM: With growing opposition towards the controversial Bollywood multi-starrer ‘Go Goa Gone’, the State tourism ministry has roped in its PR agency Adfactors to intervene and mediate with the film producers and Censor Board on the issue.
“The PR agency is due to meet the producers of the film one of these days and will request them to refrain from projecting Goa in poor light,” said a top official in the tourism ministry.
The tourism ministry has also proposed to officially write to the Censor Board cautioning its members about the film that could have a negative impact on Goa’s image and tourism.
The tourism ministry is extremely concerned over the content of the zombie film that could tarnish the image of Goa at a time when the ministry is working hard to give Brand Goa a makeover and promote quality tourism in the State.
The issue was raised in the Goa Assembly earlier this week by BJP MLA Pramod Sawant.
Stakeholders in the tourism ministry have also appealed to the government to act fast in the matter. “This is the first time that such a movie is being produced which blemishes Goa’s image and we all have to be worried about it,” said a hotelier and member of the TTAG.
It was also pointed out that this is the first challenge before the newly appointed PR agency to intervene in the matter and clip out what could cause adverse publicity for Goa and tourism.
