State has a whopping Rs 7,514 crore debt-Herald

PANJIM: The total liability of Rs 800 crore left by Congress government and the estimated liability of Rs 754.84 from the new schemes floated by the BJP led government have create a total debt of Rs 7,514 crore as on 31st December for the BJP led Government, as disclosed by chief minister Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to the Goa Assembly earlier this week.
The government debt burden is likely to shoot up to Rs 7814 crore by March 2013.
According to data furnished in the House, the coffers are reeling under spillover payments for works undertaken by the previous government mainly from three major departments ~PWD, Water Resources Department and Electricity department which adds up to approximately Rs 790.1 crore.
Since March 2012 till December 2012 payments to the tune of Rs 638 crore have already been made leaving balance payments of Rs 152 crore.
